$9,800 raised for Trails and Wildlife on Giving Tuesday

Our community did it again.

For Giving Tuesday, The Upper Saco Valley Land Trust’s gained 8 new monthly donors to support trail improvements and wildlife habitat projects across the region.

More than 40 supporters contributed over $9,800 in just 24 hours, demonstrating strong community commitment to local conservation. The funds will help support upcoming trail work and wildlife habitat restoration efforts that keep the region’s forests, wetlands, and open spaces healthy and accessible.

Trail improvement projects planned for 2026 will focus on enhancing access and safety at several preserves while improving signage and erosion control on high-use paths. Habitat restoration will include the removal of invasive species, detailed monitoring of each land, and improvements for pollinators, songbirds, and other wildlife. Volunteers contribute hundreds of hours each year to this work—helping maintain trails, repair footbridges, and assist with habitat monitoring.

“Seeing so many people come together to care for the land and trails that connect us is deeply inspiring,” said Eric White, Executive Director.“ Each gift strengthens our ability to maintain trails, improve habitat for wildlife, and ensure these special places remain open for everyone.”

USVLT extends its gratitude to everyone who participated in Giving Tuesday and to the local couple whose matching challenge helped inspire the community’s generosity.
